BUTTERCRUNCH LETTUCE, is a vintage American butterhead
that is simply one of the best you can grow in the home garden. An open-pollinated lettuce developed by George Raleigh of
Cornell University in the mid-20th Century and released in the sixties to win the All-American Selection award in 1963. One
of the great things about this lettuce is its long season - grows equally well from early spring through fall.

days. Buttercrunch is a vigorous grower with a creamy yellow interior, buttery, flavor and tender texture. Small heads are
perfect for a single-serve salad. Loves moist but not soggy soil. The compact size makes it a good container variety.
Like
other lettuces, Buttercrunch lettuce is a cool weather crop. But, Buttercrunch holds up better in hot weather than most other
lettuces. Time your spring crop to mature prior to the onset of hot and humid weather. We recommend an indoor start in the
spring for an early crop for your salad bowl.
